The best time to take vitamin D supplements

Like many supplements, taking vitamin D supplements can also interact with some medications and supplements:

Prednisone and other corticosteroid drugs used to reduce inflammation affect the body's ability to retain vitamin D, resulting in reduced calcium absorption and gradual bone loss.

The weight-loss drugs orlistat (also known as Xenical) and the cholesterol-lowering drug cholestyramine can reduce the absorption of vitamin D and other fat-soluble vitamins.

Phenobarbital and phenytoin are used to prevent and control seizures in patients with epilepsy and increase the breakdown of vitamin D and decrease calcium absorption.

Taking high doses of vitamin D with digoxin (heart medication), diltiazem, and verapamil is also not recommended because high amounts of this vitamin can lead to an excessive increase in calcium in the blood and affect the functioning of these drugs in the body. Furthermore; Long-term use of stimulant laxatives can also reduce the absorption of vitamin D and calcium.

The best time to take vitamin D supplements

Many people commonly ask this question; "When should we take vitamin D pills?" In response, it should be said that vitamin D is one of the fat-soluble vitamins, so if it is placed next to fat in food, its absorption into the bloodstream increases. Therefore, it is sometimes recommended to take this vitamin with meals.

Some people find it easier to take vitamin D in the morning because that way they don't forget to take their supplements. Some studies have also shown that taking vitamin D at night may cause sleep disturbances. However, these studies are limited and small.
